PEF
Teacher of the Year

The Pembroke Education Foundation (PEF) is pleased to announce the 2013 PEF Teacher of the Year Awards sponsored in part by WB Mason.  This year, the foundation will recognize two outstanding teachers from the Pembroke Public Schools.  A teacher from the K-6 grades and a teacher from the middle/high school grades will receive the PEF Teachers of the Year Award.  Winners will receive money towards a self-directed grant, and recognition from school administrators, peers and the Pembroke community.

The PEF Teacher of the Year Awards are sponsored in part by WB Mason.  The PEF’s mission is to enhance the educational experience and provide financial support for exciting and enriching learning opportunities for the members of the Pembroke school community. PEF assists by providing grant money towards new and enhanced learning opportunities for our students, but it is the outstanding Pembroke teachers who create the granted programs and administer them.  The Pembroke Education Foundation believes these teachers, as well as others who have not received grants, should be recognized for their commitment to excellence.  PEF encourages students, with assistance from parents, to consider nominating a teacher that has made a difference for them.

The nomination and selection process is as follows:

  1. Current students enrolled the Pembroke Public Schools can nominate any full-time teacher employed in the Pembroke school system.
  2. Nomination forms will be available May 14, 2013 at each of the schools or click on the link below.
  3. Completed nomination forms should be post-marked by June 14, 2013 and returned to:

Pembroke Education Foundation, PO Box 194

Pembroke, MA  02359

  1. This year, K-6 students will use a simplified form to nominate their deserving teacher.  It is encouraged that parents/guardians assist the students in these lower grades with the nomination.  Parents can transcribe their child’s words.  Nomination forms submitted by K-6 students should be signed by a parent or guardian.
  2. Students in grades 7-12 can nominate a deserving teacher using the 7-12 nomination form which provides criteria guidelines for a short essay.
  3. The nominees will be notified that they have been selected for this award.
  4. A selection committee from the PEF Board will review the submissions over the summer.  Nominees and the winners will be announced at the District Back to School meeting in August.
  5. Awards (checks) need to be cashed by the recipient within 60 days of the award.
